Hoodia Gordonii Medical Study Results
The medicinal uses of the Hoodia plant have been studied by various medical organizations around the world, especially in the US and the UK, which have been battling the menace of obesity related diseases for the last couple of decades. This is why when mention of Hoodia Gordonii, the sole variety of pure Hoodia plant of which there are nearly 2 dozen sub-species, comes up, everyone wanting to lose fat fast listens up!
The indigenous tribesmen of Southern Africa report the earliest known uses for the Hoodia Gordonii herb. These Bushmen used this flowering cactus-like plant, the Hoodia, for treating indigestion and minor infections. Rather fleshy and somewhat unsavoury to those unaccustomed to the desert stems and roots extracts contained in the original Hoodia Gordonii plant, the modern diet pills variety of the same is a convenient and non-messy way of suppress the appetite and stimulating natural fat burning processes in the body.
This fact has been revealed through various medical studies conducted on the Hoodia Gordonii plant from 1977 onwards by both the CSIR (South Africa’s federal science and research institute) and leading global pharmaceutical giants to whom the license for developing Hoodia Gordonii related supplements and drugs was later sold.
However, it was over 30 years ago that the CSIR managed to isolate a particular ingredient in their native Hoodia plant, which they called the P57 that actually produces the appetite-suppressant effects genuine Hoodia Gordonii supplements are enriched with. This molecule was patented in 1996 by the CSIR and then sold to the UK based company, Phytopharm, which, in turn, teamed up with Pfizer for further separating active ingredients from extracts of organically grown Hoodia Gordonii in order to take a deeper look at the possible processes of synthesis of this magic fat loss herb and then market it as a natural appetite suppressant.
As it so happened, Pfizer was pretty market-savvy and soon realized there were certain undesirable effects of succesfully isolating the primary appetite suppressant molecule in Hoodia Gordonii and thereafter, in 2002, the pharma giants released the rights for the same. This led the international scientific researchers groups every where to believe there may be little benefit in taking Hoodia Gordonii orally in the pill form, or else why would a company as big as Pfizer release rights on it after having spent multi-million dollars on various levels of medical study?
However, as the lead researcher at Pfizer, Jasjit Bindra, having studied the effects of synthesizing P57 in Hoodia Gordonii revealed to the media in the light of all this speculation that their initial clinical trials indicated certain unwanted effects on the liver caused by specific components in Hoodia, which were not easy to remove from supplement form and therefore the company was waiting for further research results on Hoodia that could earn the FDA’s approval as safer formulation before hitting the market with these.
In conclusion, it is hoped that with advancements in medical technology happening at a fast pace everyday of our lives, there is bound to be good news about natural weight loss no longer being ‘the impossible dream’ anymore if latest trials about use of advanced Hoodia Gordonii herbal supplements granting a decrease in dietary desires by 1000+ calories in lab test consumers is anything to go by.
